Alan
Slootsky was born in Bayonne, New Jersey in
1954. He graduated from Bayonne High School
in 1972 where he was the captain of the swim
team. He attended Rutgers University in New
Brunswick, New Jersey and was accepted early
admission to the College of Medicine and Dentistry
in Newark, New Jersey.
After graduating in 1978 he completed a one-year
general practice residency at the Jersey Shore
Medical Center/Fitkin Hospital in Neptune, New
Jersey next to Asbury Park. He moved to Florida
and spent one year in Gainesville, Florida working
at the Union Correctional Institute in Raiford.
Dr.
Slootsky settled in Boca Raton in 1980 and established
his practice at its present location soon thereafter.
He is committed to maintaining the highest standards
of dentistry possible with the latest technology
and equipment. He is devoted to his patients'
needs and takes thousands of hours of dental
continuing education.
The
doctor attained a Fellowship from the Academy
of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 1983 and a Mastership
of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) in
1995. This was for taking over and above a thousand
hours of continuing education in a variety of
subjects. He is now co-chair of the crown and
bridge class at the Atlantic Coast Dental Research
Clinic and has lectured to Dentists, Doctors
and Hygienists on Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction
(TMJ). He has appeared in the past on TV and
radio educating the public on current issues
in dentistry. He is a member of the ADA (American
Dental Association), FDA (Florida Dental Association),
BDA (Broward Dental Association), AES (American
Equilibration Society), APS (American Prosthodontic
Society), Pankey Institute, and is listed in
the "Guide to America's Top Dentists"
of the Consumers' Research Council.
When
he's not in the office you may spot him coaching
for Boca Hoops, participating in YMCA Indian
Trails Blazers, or volunteering for the Jewish
Federation and Temple Beth El adult education
program. He also enjoys the outdoors with his
wife Jill of 22 years, running, biking, and
hiking. Dr Slootsky successfully ascended Mt
Rainer with the group "Dentists Climb for
a Cause" in an effort to raise money for
the charity Operation Smile. You can view the
